Careful Industries is an inclusive innovation studio.

Our mission is to make technology work for 8 billion people, not 8 billionaires.

We do research, policy development, and training.

Overwhelmed by AI?

We offer training and strategic development services for teams, organisations and freelancers who want to cut through the hype, get to grips with AI, and develop socially responsible strategies.

Join our AI 101 Training Sessions

In small group training sessions, you can understand the impacts of AI to help you make informed decisions and intentional trade-offs in your work.

Across 90 minutes, we will move beyond the hype to share the environmental and social impacts of AI.

We run two types of sessions:

  1. For those working in and with Charities and Public Sector organisations

  2. Freelancers, industry, civil society and government employees

These sessions are for people interested in getting started with their AI Literacy: no technical expertise is required.

The training sessions will be led by Rachel Coldicutt OBE, a technology strategist and researcher, specialising in the social impact of new and emerging technologies.

“Rachel has the ability to simply explain the complexity of AI. The session was packed with insightful and useful information and provided a clear understanding of this sector and its developing uses and applications.” - Workshop Participant

“Working with Rachel and Careful Industries has been wonderful! They have creatively guided JRF through a process of developing AI internal guidelines, designing a process that allowed for broad engagement from staff as well as deep, critical thinking. Rachel is an expert facilitator who easily translates technical terms to lay audiences and creates positive spaces for exploration and challenge.”

Our Values

Care is the organising principle for everything we do: care for and about people and the planet, combined with a rigorous and diligent approach to investigating uncertainty.

We are constantly learning, always curious, and strive to be inclusive and accepting.

We champion patient innovation, inclusive growth, and feminism for the 99%.

We are wayfinders not competitors.

Living successfully in a world of systems requires more of us than our ability to calculate. It requires our full humanity – our rationality, our ability to sort out truth from falsehood, our intuition, our compassion, our vision, and our morality.
— Donella Meadows, Dancing with Systems
